Midwinter blues

by loiswakeman @ 12 Jan. 2008 - 23:15:38

This post is about a tiny moment - a tipping point from comfort to mild despair that you may also have experienced.

Picture the scene: you are lying all cosy under the duvet in the predawn dark, listening to the rain splattering on the windows, feeling smug.

Then you realise that in a few minutes, you are going to have to get up and wash and dress in the gloom, and even once the sun has allegedly risen, it will still be dim and grey till dusk. All the cosiness flees, and the pleasure in listening to the rain evaporates. :**:

But soon t'will be Summer. The sun will shine and the birdies will tweet and the flowers bloom and all will be sweetness and light in Blightyland
That's easy for me to say :>>

I am increasingly convinced that humans, like bears, are supposed to hibernate. This is why we get fat in the autumn.

Love the new banner, styling and wotnot.

I had just those experiences in the freezing wee hours - got up, shivered, put socks on; feet warmed up and I got some sleep.

Super day though, but scraping frost off outside of windows and inside too.

The really depressing one is when you turn to look at the clock (alarm not set as it is Saturday) and realise that the pre-dawn gloom is happening at 10.30!

I have started to leave my alarm clock set at weekends. That feeling when I hear it go off and I can just turn over and go back to sleep is just wonderful!

I hate getting out of my lovely warm bed too Lois!
